What this service is
When something on the network breaks — no internet, dropouts, a dead phone line, a Wi-Fi black spot — we methodically isolate the cause and repair it. Most jobs are diagnosed on the first visit.
Problems it solves
- Total loss of internet or phone service
- Intermittent dropouts that come and go
- Slow speeds on wired connections
- Damaged cabling from landscaping, renovations, pets or age
- A specific data or phone point that no longer works
What you need to know before you book
Is it your provider or your cabling?
Before booking anyone, it is worth narrowing the problem down. If every device on every connection type is affected and your provider's status page shows an outage, it is almost certainly a network-side issue. If wired devices work and only Wi-Fi struggles, the problem is coverage, not the service. If one specific wall point is dead while others work, the cabling to that point is the prime suspect.
That distinction matters because provider faults are free to have investigated by the provider, while incorrect callouts are not. We will happily talk it through on the phone first and tell you if the symptoms point to something you should raise with your retailer instead.
- Everything down, provider reports an outage — raise it with your provider first
- Wired fine, Wi-Fi poor — a coverage and access point problem
- One dead outlet, others working — a cabling or termination fault
- Intermittent dropouts in wet weather — moisture ingress on an external joint is common
- Faults after landscaping or renovation — likely physical cable damage
How we diagnose a cabling fault
Diagnosis is a process of elimination, not guesswork. We start at the outlet showing the symptom, verify the termination and wire map, then work back toward the source, testing each segment. Where the run is buried or inaccessible, cable tracing and length measurement narrow the fault down to a section before anything is opened up.
Common findings in South East Queensland include water ingress at external joints after storms, cable damage from garden work and post-hole digging, corroded or oxidised terminations in older properties, rodent damage in roof spaces, and DIY joins made with the wrong cable type or twisted rather than terminated.
Repair, or replace the run?
Where a fault is at a termination or a single accessible point, a repair is quick and sensible. Where a run has been physically damaged, is the wrong cable type for its environment, or has already been repaired several times, replacing the segment is usually cheaper over the life of the installation than paying for repeated visits.
We give you both options with the reasoning, and we will always tell you when the honest answer is that a repair will hold. Most faults are diagnosed on the first visit, and simple repairs are typically completed at the same time.

Preparing for a quote
What to prepare
- • A description of the symptoms and when they started
- • Which points, rooms or devices are affected
- • Any recent work on the property (renovations, landscaping, other trades)
- • Access to the affected areas and the comms cabinet
Factors that affect the quote
- • How accessible the affected cabling is
- • Whether the fault is in the internal cabling or on the carrier's side of the network
- • Whether replacement cabling is required vs a repair at the outlet
- • Whether specialised testing (e.g. OTDR) is needed
Enquiry, inspection, installation
- Step 01Enquiry
Call us on 07 5666 7167 or send the quote form. Share the address, what you're trying to achieve and any photos of the current setup — this saves time on the site check.
- Step 02Assessment
For simple jobs we can quote from a phone consult. For anything with cable routes, wall types or trenching involved we prefer a brief on-site inspection so the quote is accurate.
- Step 03Written quote
You'll get a clear written quote covering scope, materials and any assumptions. We'll confirm availability and expected timing when you enquire.
- Step 04Installation and testing
Work is completed by a registered cabler, tested at the outlet and labelled where relevant. Cable routes are kept tidy and the work area cleaned up.

Frequently asked questions
How quickly can you attend a cabling fault?+
We will confirm availability when you call. Faults are prioritised where a business is offline or a household has no service at all, and we will give you a realistic window rather than an optimistic one.
Can you find a fault in a cable buried underground?+
Yes. Cable tracing and length measurement narrow the fault to a section of the route so any excavation is targeted. For fibre we use OTDR tracing to locate the break precisely.
Why does my internet drop out only when it rains?+
That pattern usually points to moisture reaching a joint, an external outlet or a damaged sheath. It is one of the most common faults we see in South East Queensland after storm season.
Do you charge if the fault turns out to be the provider's?+
We discuss the symptoms with you before attending and will tell you if it looks like a network-side issue you should raise with your retailer. Any callout arrangement is confirmed with you upfront.

Learn moreCommon questions
Can you fix intermittent dropouts?+
Yes. Dropouts are usually caused by a faulty cable, socket, splitter or piece of equipment. We isolate the cause and repair it during the visit where possible.
What if the fault is with the NBN or my provider?+
If testing shows the issue is on the carrier's side of the network, we'll document what we found and provide notes you can pass to your provider.
Can you repair a data point that has stopped working?+
Yes. Most single-point failures are a bad termination or a damaged run, both of which we can usually repair on the visit.
Do you charge for a fault find if you can't fix it?+
There is a charge for the diagnostic time, but you'll get a clear written summary of what was found and what would be needed to resolve it.
