About the service

What this service is

Small business networking covers everything from a two-desk office to a multi-room clinic, retail store or workshop. We plan and install structured cabling, wireless access points, communications cabinets and the network equipment that ties it together.

Problems it solves

  • The office Wi-Fi can't keep up as staff grow
  • The comms cabinet is chaotic with no labelling or patch panel
  • Desks and phones keep moving and the cabling can't keep up
  • A new location needs the cabling done before fit-out finishes
In detail

What you need to know before you book

What a small business network needs that a home one doesn't

A business network installation is a different job to a home one, even when the cable is identical. Business networks carry things that cost money when they stop: point-of-sale terminals, EFTPOS, VoIP handsets, practice-management software, booking systems, cameras and cloud file access. That changes the priorities. Uptime, tidy documentation and the ability to diagnose a fault quickly matter more than headline speed.

In practice that means structured cabling back to a labelled patch panel, business-grade access points that support multiple SSIDs and roaming, a comms cabinet with room to grow, and a cable layout someone else can understand at 8am when something has failed and you are waiting on a customer.

Fit-outs, relocations and staged growth

The best time to cable a tenancy is during fit-out, before ceilings close and joinery goes in. We work to the desk layout so outlets land where furniture actually sits, allow spare capacity at each position, and coordinate with the builder, electrician and your IT provider so nothing is discovered late.

For relocations, we cable the new site ahead of the move so equipment can be swung across with minimal downtime, and we can decommission and make good at the old premises. For businesses growing in stages, we install the cabinet and backbone to the eventual size and add outlets as headcount increases.

  • Desk-level data outlets sized with spare capacity per position
  • Wall-mount or floor-standing communications cabinets with cable management
  • Business-grade access points with roaming and guest networks
  • Cabling for cameras, access control and VoIP handsets
  • Fibre backbone between floors or buildings where distance requires it

Sorting out a messy comms cabinet

A surprising number of small business faults come down to an undocumented cabinet: no patch panel, unlabelled leads, switches stacked on a shelf, and cabling added ad hoc by three different providers. Nothing is technically broken until it is, and then nobody can tell which lead serves which desk.

A clean-up is usually a single scheduled visit — often out of hours to avoid disruption. We terminate everything to a patch panel, label ports at both ends, dress the cabling, remove abandoned leads and hand over a simple port schedule your IT provider can work from.

  • Any brand or model preferences for network equipment
  • Site access, hours and site-induction requirements

Factors that affect the quote

  • Whether fibre backhaul between areas is needed
  • After-hours or weekend work requirements
How it works

Enquiry, inspection, installation

  1. Step 01
    Enquiry

Call us on 07 5666 7167 or send the quote form. Share the address, what you're trying to achieve and any photos of the current setup — this saves time on the site check.

  2. Step 02
    Assessment

For simple jobs we can quote from a phone consult. For anything with cable routes, wall types or trenching involved we prefer a brief on-site inspection so the quote is accurate.

  3. Step 03
    Written quote

You'll get a clear written quote covering scope, materials and any assumptions. We'll confirm availability and expected timing when you enquire.

  4. Step 04
    Installation and testing

Work is completed by a registered cabler, tested at the outlet and labelled where relevant. Cable routes are kept tidy and the work area cleaned up.

More questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you cable our office outside business hours?+

Yes. After-hours and weekend work is common for retail and office sites, and we can stage the work so trading is not interrupted. Access arrangements and any building rules are confirmed before we schedule.

How many data points should each desk have?+

Two per desk is the common baseline — one for the workstation and one spare for a phone, dock or printer. Meeting rooms, reception and any point-of-sale position usually warrant extra.

Do you supply the network equipment as well as the cabling?+

We can supply and install access points, patch panels, cabinets and cable management, and we are happy to install equipment supplied by your IT provider if you prefer to keep procurement with them.

Can you cable a tenancy before we move in?+

Yes, and it is the cheapest way to do it. Give us the desk layout and lease access dates and we will have outlets, cabinet and Wi-Fi ready for the move.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you work outside business hours?+

Do you work alongside our IT provider?+

Do you supply and install patch panels and cabinets?+

Yes, from small wall-mount cabinets right through to floor-standing racks with cable management and labelling.

Can you cable a new office fit-out?+

Yes. Best time to book us is once desk positions and the comms cabinet location are confirmed, so runs and outlets can be planned properly.
